Infinite Moment of Us by Lauren Myracle

Goodreads Blurb
For as long as she can remember, Wren Gray’s goal has been to please her parents. But as high school graduation nears, so does an uncomfortable realization: Pleasing her parents once overlapped with pleasing herself, but now... not so much. Wren needs to honor her own desires, but how can she if she doesn’t even know what they are?
Charlie Parker, on the other hand, is painfully aware of his heart’s desire. A gentle boy with a troubled past, Charlie has loved Wren since the day he first saw her. But a girl like Wren would never fall for a guy like Charlie—at least not the sort of guy Charlie believes himself to be.
And yet certain things are written in the stars. And in the summer after high school, Wren and Charlie’s souls will collide. But souls are complicated, as are the bodies that house them...
Oh you gorgeous, gorgeous, lying cover. When I saw the cover I imagined a sweet, possibly heartbreaking, story that I would love. Instead I got a romance that wasn't exactly my favorite and was more New Adult than Young.

I didn't really expect the rather...detailed sex scene that happened or the issues that ended up being mentioned. Namely from one Starrla character. Starrla really irritated for some reason. I think it was because she didn't really seem to have much depth. Yes, she was broken, and yes she had her issues. But beyond her issues and her pain, there honestly didn't seem to be anything else. It was like she was just written to drive a wedge between our two main characters, which she probably was. I just wish there was more to her than her bitchiness and cruelty.

Ah, but you want to hear about our main characters don't you?
Charlie wasn't exactly my favorite. He seemed a bit...obsessive with Wren and I found him a bit...awkward for the story. I really can't explain why, but something just nagged at me throughout the entire story. But he was otherwise a pretty sweet guy with a real voice. He cared about his family, his friends, Wren, and was definitely romantic enough to make one swoon. But I didn't really see him grow as a character--we were told he changed, but I wish we'd been shown this character development, however minor.
Wren was sort of the same, but she annoyed me a lot more. She never really treated Charlie right and she was definitely a bit clingy and needy. She did try to stand up for her parents, and I admired her for that, but she never really said what she wanted. She flinched back a lot and it definitely annoyed me. After so many years under her parents' thumb (who definitely didn't win any parent of the year awards) I felt like she should've been more...explosive with her feelings than the timid rebel she portrayed once. Twice?

The romance in this definitely had that insta-love feel to it and I just sort of hated it. I had no idea what they saw in each other. All I kept hearing was "You're beautiful." "You're gorgeous." "You're perfect." But beyond that? Why did they seem so in love? There was no basis of their love and there was almost nothing leading up to it besides their "touching of the souls." Wut?

I wanted to DNF this so many times, but I pushed on, wanting to see how it ended, which was rather abrupt for my tastes. The Infinite Moment of Us was rather disappointing and I honestly wouldn't really recommend it to anyone. Of course, I still want to read Myracle's Shine since it received so many rave reviews, but not this one, unfortunately.

But guys. Such a gorgeous cover.

Blog Tour: Addicted to You by Becca and Krista Ritchie

YES. That is all. ON WITH THE INTERVIEW!

Fiction Freak: What are your top 3 addictions?
Becca: television, television, and books :)
Krista: Diet coke, television, and books.

FF: Top 3 guilty pleasures?
Becca: Watching The Challenge on MTV, Real Housewives marathons, and my long-time crush on Jonathan Taylor Thomas.
Krista: Constantly checking pop culture news on Entertainment Weekly, watching The Challenge with Becca, and those shows on ABC Family ;)
FF: What are you currently working on?
Becca: We're writing the sequel and novella for Addicted to You. And of course, blogging :)
Krista: Same. But I'm in the editing process for one of our YA books as well.

FF: What made you want to write a NA book?
Becca: She's always written "older" YA before NA ever revealed itself. *turns to Krista*
Krista: Me? Yes! I've technically never written anything YA and the books that I do write in that genre always have to be tweaked to fit the younger voice.

FF: How does it feel being both writers AND bloggers AND getting all this marketing done?
Becca: It's crazy! My day job also includes writing and marketing for television, so there's a lot to juggle. Plus, I have to go back to college this summer and finish my degree. It's a lot to take in, but I love that we're part of many different spheres.
Krista: Yeah, it is crazy! But in a good way. I'm excited and nervous and have a lot of feelings about stepping out as a writer. It's weird because we've always considered ourselves writers before bloggers, but many of you know us as bloggers before writers.

FF: Compare your favorite NA and your favorite YA, maybe?
Becca: Admittedly, I don't read as much NA as Krista. But I adored Easy and a favorite YA…that's just too hard. But I'll pick Anna and the French Kiss since they're both contemporaries. Totally different. Totally love them both. St. Clair anyone?
Krista: Easy is literally my favorite NA, so curse you Becca for stealing my pick, haha! But I love First Comes Love as well, which is technically an NA before the genre really exploded. I like My Life Next Door if we're going the contemporary route for YA. But I do have to agree with Becca, St. Clair is the best. Comparing YA and NA is difficult. Like Becca said, they're just different and amazing in their own way.

FF: Top 5 books read in 2013 so far?
Becca: Not all of these are 2013 releases but… Insignia by S.J. Kincaid, The Cadet of Tildor by Alex Lidell, Shadowfell by Juliet Marillier, Insomnia by J.R. Johansson and Life after Theft by Aprilynne Pike
Krista: These are actually all 2013 releases: Reboot by Amy Tintera, Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins, Scarlet by Marissa Meyer, The Archived by Victoria Schwab, and The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd.

FF: Do you think the cover model looks a bit like Emma Watson too? Not just me?
Becca: You know, we're getting that a lot! I didn't see it at first, probably because we know what the model looks like in other pictures. But in this one, I can totally see the resemblance.
Krista: This is the comment we receive the most from everyone! And I agree with Becca. I didn't realize at first either.

FF: Replace this with any question you've always wanted to answer and ANSWER IT
Okay, lol! Krista came up with this one. Choose between living as royalty in Narnia forever or being a wizard in Hogwarts.
Becca: I'd go with being a wizard in Hogwarts, post-Voldemort age. I have a feeling I'd be in Hufflepuff and probably wouldn’t be able to produce a good Patronus to outlive book three. But wands are so much better than swords.
Krista: I'm choosing Narnia even though I'd love to be a wizard. First of all, you're going to eventually die, Becca. That's the cold hard truth. Me? I can go in and out of the wardrobe, reverting back to my younger self. In essence—I'd live forever. Bam!

Thanks Nikki!!

Cover Reveal: Addicted to You by Becca and Krista Ritchie

So I don't normally do cover reveals. And I rarely post about New Adult books. But I've beta read for these two amazing writers and I love their stuff! So I JUMPED at the chance to help promote their self-published NA! And the cover is seriously GORGEOUS.

Are you ready?

Are you sure?

ABSOLUTELY SURE?

I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I love how the blue pops out against the background, I love the font, I love the picture, and the girl sort of reminds me of Emma Watson.

Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Goodreads Blurb
Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.
In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.
Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.

Okay, so after my review of Beautiful Disaster, I'm not quite sure why I was so desperate to read this, or why I requested. I guess it was the "addictive" part! And yet, what I happened to like reading in Beautiful Disaster seemed to be completely gone in Walking Disaster.

So, I don't want to be mean, but Walking Disaster was so cheesy and so cliché. I cringed so much and had to roll my eyes. In the prologue, Travis is a little boy and his mom's dying. And her final words to her son? "Fight for what you love." and then he's told "she will always be with you, even if you can't see her." I guess that could be sweet, but it's just so overused and it was basically that. There was no originality, honestly, in this book (in the prologue and in general.)

Walking Disaster was, for me, more of a highlight of why Beautiful Disaster was so awkward for me. I always felt like Travis was a bit crazy, and seeing the story from his point of view pretty much confirmed it. He was such a horrible person and their relationship was definitely more dysfunctional in this version than the other. Travis had so many anger issues and it was so frustrating. I mean, I'd like my boyfriend to get a little jealous, but punching a guy who was just talking? I can see why Abby got angry at him. But Travis saw absolutely nothing wrong with his actions, which made me want to slam my face into my table a few times. I hate to be so snarky, but...

Anyways. Something I seemed to forget about Beautiful Disaster was how indecisive Abby was. She'd argue with him, yell at him, and then do a few dirty things with him. Awkward. I really couldn't get used to that at all and it was a bit disturbing. Meep.

So I'm really not a fan of this series, but if you are I guess you'd enjoy it. It was...huh. I have no words to describe it in it's fullness. Well, I really wouldn't recommend the series, though you may like it if you're into the whole break up thing. Similar books? I can only think Crash by Nicole Williams!

Blog Tour: Tidal by Emily Snow

Goodreads Blurb

Now that Willow Avery is out of rehab, she's got one chance left to prove herself before she’s officially on every producer’s shit list. At least, that's what her parents and agent are claiming. She doesn't really give a damn if she never makes another movie or not—she just wants to get on with her life, get back to her friends, and find her next escape. But Willow is broke. And whether she likes it or not, acting is the only job she knows how to do.

When she accepts the lead in a beach drama, Willow finds herself in Hawaii. And in Hawaii, she finds Cooper, the gorgeous surfer hired to train her for her new role. With the bluest eyes she’s ever seen and the sexiest Australian accent she’s ever heard, Cooper’s different from the men she’s used to. He doesn’t want to use her. And he refuses to let her fail. But when an old friend re-enters Willow’s life—a friend whose toxicity she’s been drawn to time and time before and whose presence brings about the painful memories she's tried so hard to suppress—Willow will have to choose between the girl she was and the person she’s becoming. The lifestyle that helps her forget the pain and the guy she’s falling hard for.

Tidal, Tidal, Tidal. I first want to say that when starting this, I had no idea that it was a New Adult book. I probably should've suspected it, given the summary, but I didn't. So I was definitely surprised when some pretty...steamy sections popped up! Like, really. (Cue awkward cough)

I actually really enjoyed this contemporary though! In all it's fluffy and cheesiness. It was a fun read that I think I would've actually liked more if I read it during the summer, but without a doubt this was a great book! As a girl who loves chick flicks I absolutely adored this! As a reviewer and blogger, I didn't adore it, but I did enjoy it to a certain extent. So I would definitely recommend this for anyone who wants a break from the paranormal and hardcore contemporaries!

What I didn't like though was that the main point, the romance, wasn't very well developed and they seemed to fall in love (or rather, lust) at first sight. And that's when I really rolled my eyes. And the plot twist really wasn't surprising. Instead of the huge "OHEMGEE" it was more of a "Mhmm". But then, in these types of books not many people really care, do they?

I honestly think that anyone who goes on Wattpad (if you know it, you know it) will absolutely love this as well as any fans of Beautiful Disaster maybe? With a less dysfunctional relationship! It was written well, and I had tons of laughs and giggles reading this! Though, my advice--wait till summer maybe?
