Cover Reveal: Addicted to You by Becca and Krista Ritchie

So I don't normally do cover reveals. And I rarely post about New Adult books. But I've beta read for these two amazing writers and I love their stuff! So I JUMPED at the chance to help promote their self-published NA! And the cover is seriously GORGEOUS.

Are you ready?

Are you sure?

ABSOLUTELY SURE?

I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I love how the blue pops out against the background, I love the font, I love the picture, and the girl sort of reminds me of Emma Watson.

Addicted to You
Two addictions. One lie.
No one would suspect shy, Lily Calloway’s biggest secret. While everyone is dancing at college bars, Lily stays in the bathroom. To get laid. Her compulsion leads her to one-night stands, steamy hookups and events she shamefully regrets. The only person who knows her secret happens to have one of his own.
Loren Hale’s best friend is his bottle of bourbon. Lily comes at a close second. For three years, they’ve pretended to be in a real relationship, hiding their addictions from their families. They’ve mastered the art of concealing flasks and random guys that filter in and out of their apartment.
But when they go on a family boat trip, surrounded by open seas and limited male bodies in sight, Lily’s confronted with a big fear. Only one guy onboard can fill her addiction, and she’s sworn off going there with Loren Hale ever again.
Now the only person who can truly help her, can barely help himself.

Speechless by Hannah Harrington

Goodreads Blurb
Everyone knows that Chelsea Knot can't keep a secret
Until now. Because the last secret she shared turned her into a social outcast—and nearly got someone killed.
Now Chelsea has taken a vow of silence—to learn to keep her mouth shut, and to stop hurting anyone else. And if she thinks keeping secrets is hard, not speaking up when she's ignored, ridiculed and even attacked is worse.
But there's strength in silence, and in the new friends who are, shockingly, coming her way—people she never noticed before; a boy she might even fall for. If only her new friends can forgive what she's done. If only she can forgive herself.

I was in a book slump for DAYS before I read this. I mean, I read great books, I did! But I felt detached from every single one and I wasn't as hooked as I usually am with books that had that level of action-packed. So it was pretty ironic that what broke it was a contemporary book that was more emotion than action!

"Hate is...too easy," he says.

And this was emotional. Whether you became angry with her, then sympathizing, then wanting to cry, you feel so much emotion and isn't any emotion better than devoid of any? But I've gone through a range of emotions reading this book and the internal turmoil hasn't stopped. Everything was jump started by one little slip of a drunk tongue, and all for the better. Chelsea finally knows who she is without Kristen and her label, what love is, and she finds friends who finally accept her for her. We get to experience all of that in a way that just...touches you. (Do I use that phrase a lot?)

(..) like he's so completely sure of what he's saying.

Leading us to characters. This has possibly the most dynamic character I've ever read. In the beginning I could barely stand Chelsea--she's one of those cliche popular mean girls, BFF with the Queen Bee and the biggest minion of them all. She couldn't see how she was just being used and I was so frustrated with her. But over the course of the book, she changes dramatically into a relatable character who we can understand. And even when Chelsea regretted her choice of doing the right thing, I understood her. Doing what's right is never easy, but she did it anyways. No one can blame her for having her doubts. And that's when I was sold.
I've been dying to get my hands on Saving June for a year now, and I'm definitely getting it now that I've seen a bit of Harrington's work! Her characters are just so heartfelt and so real.

Love.

And the writing is one I can easily relate with. This is the voice of a real teenager, in all honesty--I don't know about the rest of you, but I definitely think like this at times! The voice of this story is just wonderful, and what's even more wonderful is how this story is told.
This book is stunning in it's subtle way, exactly as it should be. And I definitely hope I read more books like this--a bit dramatic, a bit emotional, and a bit beautiful.

Love takes courage.

Cover Reveal for Asunder: Incarnate #2

So I lied-there will be a few posts, no reviews though. Anyways, the cover and title of Incarnate #2 (bu Jodi Meadows) has been released! And it is BEAUTIFUL. However, even though Incarnate's cover was beautiful as well, I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped so I won't be reading this though I may print out the cover and hang it up! For an insanely short review: It had beautiful writing and a great plot but I didn't exactly love the characters and their always a big part of how I look at books. I'd still definitely recommend it to anyone who loves stories about finding who you're meant to be with SO MUCH ROMANCE.

Beautiful, no? And from Jodi Meadow's blog post, here are a few questions she's answered beforehand. (Her original post can be foundhere.)

1. What does “asunder” mean?
From Dictionary.com
Adjective:
1. into separate parts; in or into pieces: Lightning split the old oak tree asunder.
2. apart or widely separated: as wide asunder as the polar regions.
2. That’s not a very comforting definition. Should I be worried?
Always.

3. Is that the same model from the INCARNATE cover?
Yes! When the photo shoot for the INCARNATE cover happened, they took enough photos for all three books. The same model will be on the cover of Incarnate 3 (aka Ana Notitle), as well.

4. Rose petals! Are rose petals important in ASUNDER, like the butterfly was in INCARNATE?
Yes!

5. She’s wearing a mask! Will there be another masquerade?
No. No masquerade in ASUNDER. (I told you in INCARNATE that they’re rare.) The rose mask is more metaphorical. You might have noticed that Ana has a tendency to compare herself to things. She hasn’t given that up.

6. So, the rose petals have a purple-blue tint to them. Does that mean–
Yes. That means a certain someone shows up.
(Confused? (Re)Read the first chapter of INCARNATE.)

7. Are the roses purple or blue?
*shrug* What do you think?

8. What else can you tell us about the cover?
The mood, the model’s expression, the rose petals breaking off her mask — those are all important. One of the things that most impresses me about the KT Books art department is how well they capture the essence of my books. While the INCARNATE cover was light and innocent, the ASUNDER cover reflects the slightly darker tone of the second book, and Ana’s growing fierceness.

9. Did you know they were going to use roses for the ASUNDER cover?
Yep. Before the photo shoot, I told my editor the symbols for each book, so the photographer and art department were able to work together to take photos that would complement those symbols. Like the butterfly, the roses have been the plan from the beginning.

10. So you knew all the symbols in advance. That means you know what’s going to be on IN3′s cover! Will you tell us?
Hahahahahahahaha. It’s cute that you think I would tell you. I like you so much. But no. I’m not going to tell you. Feel free to guess, though!

11. When is the release date?
I don’t know. Probably Jan/Feb 2013, but I don’t have a firm date yet.

Did that answer anything? Happy reading, Fiction Freaks!
