Debut Author Blog Hop

As you all know, I adore debut authors because they're so absolutely sweet. SO SWEET. So I'm absolutely thrilled to participate in this!

Today, AG Howard was so kind to donate this signed Splintered for this giveaway! Anita is unbelievably sweet and I LOVE HER TO BITS (It has nothing to do with Morpheus I swear. Or maybe I lie.)

I'm also going to give away any debut eBook for INT folks or those who already have a fabulous shiny copy of Splintered!

Remember, no cheaters! Only one set of entries per household or all your entries will be deleted.

About Splintered

Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers—precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.
When her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own.

OMGGGGGG

Oh My Gosh
Oh My Gosh
Oh My GOSH GOSH GOSH
*hums a tune*
(P.S. CLICK for giveaway stuffs.)

ITS ACTUALLY MY BLOGOVERSARY! LIKE, THE REAL THING. Huh. This is where I seriously should know how to use gifs. I fail. I epically fail.

MY GUSH:
Oh my God. You guys. I can't even...oh my God. Seriously. Do you know how much I love each of you? Whether you're an author, a blogger I follow, a bloggy friend, a publisher, a follower, or even someone who just came for the giveaways (I know I host some pretty awesome ones. Hey, today is a flattery day!) THANK YOU. If you just stumbled across this blog, OH MY GOSH I STILL LOVE YOU. (Although, if you're a friend who just wanted to see me embaress myself in front of people...sigh. I can't hate anyone today. Fine. I forgive you.) But you guys, I've been through my ups and downs. If you haven't heard, actually, I'll be taking a  short break in about a month! But today isn't for sad days. Once, when I first started blogging, I post seriously awful not-thought-out reviews. And while my reviews aren't something good now, they've definitely improved and I'm proud!

And well, here's the thing: I quit blogging for about two months. I had no idea how important it would be, and I barely had 10 followers.So...I quit. But what can I say? I had time on my hands then, so I picked myself out of the dumps, and started blogging again, more determined than ever.

And look where it's gotten me. Although, I can't say I've done this on my own.

Thank you, first of all, to all my bloggy friends and half bloggy friends (a.k.a. Twitter friends!). You guys have lift me out of the dumps when I was down and always squealed when me when I needed it! Support should be y'all's middle names! I can't BELIEVE the rants we've had, the squeals we've had, the OUTRAGE at something, and the "THAT PUBLISHER HATES ME" phase (*cough* Eileen, they SO do not hate you! They just...are in a coma.) we've shared! If you guys suddenly disappeared (since most of my friends lived on the East Coast, I was sort of...kind of scared during Hurricane Sandy!) I have no idea what I'd do besides cry day and night! If you were here, this is the part where I clutch your leg and yell "DON'T LEAVE ME!"

And authors. Oh my gosh. You guys have your very own post, so I won't waste your time. But know that without you guys, I'd have nothing to do, probably be staring blankly into space, and be half dead. Trust me on this.

Followers. There are. NO WORDS to describe how much I love you people who followed me, and more importantly, you people who have looked at my reviews even once, commented even once, and decided I was awesomely crazy. Or just crazy. I LOVE YOU. and if I knew how to work gifs. I would be using that Hunger Games one. You know the one I'm talking about.

IT'S BEEN A YEAR YOU GUYS. LOVE YOU.
(Lizzy made this, but I edited it since it said Blog Tour! I'll use the original next year though! :D)

Announcing...The Bloggy Awards!

See that button? THAT, my friends, is the official button for the Bloggy Awards. What are the Bloggy Awards exactly? Well, if you go to the official site, you'll see today there's a post up for all the different categories and how to enter, but I'll give you a rundown here so you don't have to be overwhelmed by everything on the official post. It's going to be hosted by Trayche from ILoveTeenBooks, Lisseth from Read-a-Holicz, Eileen from ***Singing and Reading in the Rain***,and me! Basically, there are a little more over 15 categories, all different, and you will nominate them by emailing in your choices to bloggyawards@gmail.com. You can nominate three people for each category, and if you nominate somebody, tell them! We want as many people to be involved and if the bloggers up for nominations can actually get involved with the process, that would further the amount of success we have and we could continue this event next year. To nominate somebody, please format your email like this:

These aren't the best blog award titles, but if you guys think of a better name feel free to tell us so we can change them. Nominations will be open for exactly a week, until Monday August 13th, where we will tally the total amount of nominations and any blogs who have over a set amount of nominations (that's to be announced, depending on how many people are willing to participate) and we'll make a public announcement on the official site. Afterwards, we will send out about five questions to the nominees (the set of questions will be the same for each category) and then post their answers later one. Votes will be open for another week for the final winner of the awards, and then announced again on the official site. Please remember to try and find as many blogs as you can for each category. Don't just go for the popular blogs, we want to spread blogger love and highlight as many blogs as possible. We want to tell people about new blogs, so if you want your blog to be nominated, post about it, hype up the Bloggy Awards, and help us network it! :) Check out The Bloggy Awards site if you want to know more about this and start casting in your nominations! :) ***So far, the winner of an award will most likely only get a web button with a trophy and the name of the award for bragging rights, but we're going to try to get some swag to mail out to the winners. If any authors want to mail out any swag feel free to contact me :)***

Debut Author Blog Hop

I'm participating in the Debut Author Giveaway Hop hosted by I Am a Reader, Not a Writer and the Non Reluctant Reader. I will be giving up my ARC copy of Tempest by Julie Cross which was released in January! It's a seriously amazing book and Ialmost don't want to give it up!
Here's the sypnosis:
Tempest (Tempest, #1)

The year is 2009.  Nineteen-year-old Jackson Meyer is a normal guy… he’s in college, has a girlfriend… and he can travel back through time. But it’s not like the movies – nothing changes in the present after his jumps, there’s no space-time continuum issues or broken flux capacitors – it’s just harmless fun.

That is… until the day strangers burst in on Jackson and his girlfriend, Holly, and during a struggle with Jackson, Holly is fatally shot. In his panic, Jackson jumps back two years to 2007, but this is not like his previous time jumps. Now he’s stuck in 2007 and can’t get back to the future.

Desperate to somehow return to 2009 to save Holly but unable to return to his rightful year, Jackson settles into 2007 and learns what he can about his abilities.

But it’s not long before the people who shot Holly in 2009 come looking for Jackson in the past, and these “Enemies of Time” will stop at nothing to recruit this powerful young time-traveler.  Recruit… or kill him.

Piecing together the clues about his father, the Enemies of Time, and himself, Jackson must decide how far he’s willing to go to save Holly… and possibly the entire world

Armchair BEA: Self Interview

I decided to join Armchair BEA and this is the first post: a self interview where I answer 5 questions. Hopefully I can get all the posts since I wont have a lot of Wi-Fi. Ugh. So here it is:

Armchair BEA: Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?

Fiction Freak: I'm a teen blogger who (I'm saying this for the fifth time) can not believe how many followers I have! It's just mind blowing! I've been blogging for 7 months and first got into it because...in all honesty, I was just bored on Thanksgiving. All my friends called be a book freak and I joked saying I was a fiction freak since I hated textbooks. I got so bored I just decided why not? And started this blog. It only made sense at the time.

A BEA: What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?

FF: I'm currently reading Katana by Cole Gibsen which is rocking my face off! I can't believe how awesome it is. My favorite book, however, has to be Sweet Evil! It was absolutely stunning!

A BEA: If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?

FF: Meghan from The Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa for sure! Her or Ash, but I'm afraid that if it was a dinner with Ash I'd be swooning all night. So let's go with Meghan. Why? Because I've always loved the series and I'd love to ask Meghan why she did some things or how she felt on other things. There are just so many things that aren't revealed. Like if Keenan was actually born!

A BEA: What is your favorite part about the book blogging community? Is there anything that you would like to see change in the coming years?

FF: All the authors and bloggers I meet and the books I'm introduced to! I've met so many awesome people and Haas some fun interviews with such talented authors. Bloggers make amazing friends especially since they have a giant love for books thar can challenge mine!  And I can't think of much I'd love to change except for the fact that a few bloggers aren't exactly nice to others because of how many followers we have. But I have met a lot of nice bloggers too, so I can't say anything bad.

A BEA: Have your reading tastes changed since you started blogging? How?

FF: Yes actually! I used to end up reading unsatisfying books that made my stomach churn in a bad way or just...ugh. But now, thankfully, I can sniff out a good book! It's such a relief!

~°~

So how was it? Fun? Not so fun? Well I hope you enjoyed!

Swag Pack Giveaway!

Who wants to win some swag?

The Dark Light
Mysterious lights have flickered above Crownsville for as long as Mia can remember. And as far as she’s concerned, that’s about the only interesting thing to happen in her small town.

That is, until Sol arrives. Mia’s not one to fall for just any guy, but she can’t get intense Sol—or the brilliant tattoo on his back—out of her mind.

Then Mia’s brother goes missing, and Mia’s convinced that Sol knows more than he’s sharing. But getting closer to Sol means reevaluating everything she once believed to be true. Because Sol’s not who Mia thought he was—and neither is she.

This book sounds absolutely amazing and eerie and I can't wait to get my hands on a copy! Meanwhile, here's a swag giveaway! You can win all of the items shown above, which, if you can't see, are three Dark Light bookmarks, three wristbands, and three stickers! EDIT: I also received a poster (signed!) to include in this pack! Who wouldn't want that?

THE MEAN STUFF:
  • US only
  • 13 or older, or if you have your parent's permission
  • Ends June 17th!
Umm...that's it! Just enter the Raffleopter below!

Shock Me Saturday

Fun or None?

Last day! Shock Me Saturday is where I tell you five facts that may shock you. Or may not. Hopefully, they will!

  1. Two years ago, I absolutely hated reading. I have no idea what turned me into such a Fiction Freak.
  2. For the past year my internet has been insanely slow. So I go to the library EVERY DAY to keep my blog up and running! Lol.
  3. I'm barely passing ELA. Ugh. What can I say, I had a mean teacher.
  4. My mom thinks I have a disease because evenif I hated book 1 in a series, I have an itch to buy book 2.
  5. I am honestly scared shitless to ask publishers for ARCs. I'm amazed that I actually received some!

Finally Friday

Fun or None?
Day 5! Today is FINALLY FRIDAY which means it's my first day of SUMMER VACATION!!! EEEK! But anyways, today's post is about the ten books I'm counting down to and why. Click on the title to show the Goodreads page. Here we go (in no particular order):

The Treachery of Beautiful ThingsThe Treachery of Beautiful Things by Ruth Frances Long
The book sounds so much like Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey series and most of you should know that that's my absolute favorite series. So when I heard of this, I was instantly hooked! Did I mention I love fey stories?

Venom by Fiona Paul
Venom (Secrets of the Eternal Rose, #1)
This book just sounds so alluring. Mystery, romance, and hello? Renaissance time period? Of course I want it! And that cover is just so beauitful! Is that wrong to judge a book by its cover?

Defiance by C.J. Redwine
Defiance (Defiance, #1)I love the "rebel good girl" thing here. And we all know that kickass heroines are awesome, right? Right. And then there's the romance. I love love love stories where the love interest has no idea about his feelings until it's too late. I mean, even though it's annoying, the revelation scene is always just so cute!

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)This sounds like the Study series and Grave Mercy combined to me. Of course, both were favorites so again, I'm interested in how htis will turn out. A girl assassin? Hmmm....I feel as if it might be more interesting if it was a guy assassin and a princess, but I'm still curious as to how the story will go.

Valkyrie Rising by Ingrid Paulson
Valkyrie RisingThe fact that this book is about Valkyries is good enough. I mean, with all these awesome paranormal stories coming out, it's hard to find a creature that hasn't been used a million times. Even mermaids are getting out of hand!

Mystic City by Theo Lawrence
Mystic City (Mystic City, #1)This sounds intriguing, expecially with the apparent amnesia and the mystery of why she was engaged with her family's rival. Definitely my type of story!

Fractured Light by Jocelyn Davies
A Fractured Light (A Beautiful Dark, #2)I honestly thought that A Beautiful Dark would just end. That the story would stop there. I mean, the main character died (or so I thought.) so how would the story end? I'm so happy that it isn't and I can't wait for this next installment! And more Asher, too!

Touching the Surface by Kimberly Sabatini
Touching the SurfaceThis story seems definitely original with its afterlifesetting and the love triangle. And again, the cover is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I'm also curious as to what the painful memories are...and who she may have murdered.

Timekeeper by Alexandra Monir
Timekeeper (Timeless, #2)I absolutely loved Timeless so when I heard that the sequel was coming out this year, I was ecstatic! Witht he ending of Timeless I'm definitely longing for this to be released. After all, IS he the same person?

Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa
The Lost Prince (The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten, #1)If you've bee following my blog for a while, you'll know that my absolute favorite series is the Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa. So when I heard that she was planning a spin-off series with Ethan (Oh my, doesn't he look all grown up in that cover) it automatically became one of my "longing for" books!

Trilogy Thursday!

Fun or None?

Day four? Already? Well I better polish off all those reviews and giveaways! Anyways, today is Trilogy Thursday where I give you three trilogies and three reasons why I like them. Of course, since I can't find a trilogy where ALL THREE books are out, I'm doing a trilogy where only 1 or 2 books have been released.

Sweet Trilogy by Wendy Higgins
  • This book (book one only has been released) was absolutely breathtaking and beautiful.
  • The writing was wonderful and the senteces flowed into each other; there was never an akward moment.
  • The characters! They fit perfectly in their roles...expecially Kaidan!
Hereafter Series by Tara Hudson
  • The ghost story was original--at least to me, but I havne't read many ghost stories.
  • I loved the character of Amelia, and the ghostly part of this story made a lot of sense unlike others
  • The plot was interesting although I have to admit, most of it was based on the romance of this stor.
Tempest Series by Tracy Deebs
  • I love mermaid stories so much! Might have something to do with the fact that the Little Mermaid was one of my favorite Disney princesses ever!
  • I loved that Tracy Deebs added in selkies. Another one of my favorite creatures, but they aren't used as much as I like.
  • Kona.

2. Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris

3. The Selection by Kiera Cass
The dystopian version of The Bachelor!

4. Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
Another dystopia filled with more action than romance. But whose complaining?

5. Of Poseidon by Anna Banks
Mermaids? Romance? Powers? Fighting? Princes? Love it!

Mash Up Monday

Fun or None?

Welcome to Day two of The Fun or None? Fun Hop! Today is Mash Up Monday where I'll be giving you characters from two different books I'd love to see in a book.
Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1)                +          Obsidian (Lux, #1)

I'd love to see Nora and Patch from Hush Hush and Daemon and Kat from Obsidian to be in a book? Why? Because, especially if their girls were with them, Patch and Daemon would be at each other's throats. After all, both of these guys absolutely love to irritate others to the point where they want to kill each other. My prediction? These two would either be best friends or deadly enemies. And when i say deadly...well neither are human are they? Kat and Nora I just threw in because those two would definitely be friends if not a little jealous at first. So there's my mash-up! What do you think would happen?

Salutation Sunday!

If you didn't know, since exams are this week, there will be no reviews or memes, except for my Author Interview with Shannon Duffy for the blog tour! Expect that soon! So the first day is Salutation Sunday where we introduce ourselves. Or, if you already know me, then give you a little more insight on my life.
I'm Nikki and I started blogging 6-7 months ago! I honestly never anticipated any more than 10 followers, my friends and family. And now about 200? You're kidding! I'm so thankful and can't wait to get to know all of y'all! Here's some info!
  • If you can't tell, I'm from Texas where all I do is burn away in the hot sun.
  • I'm a Pisces and I'm addicted to astrology and legends/myths
  • I love it when people are random and say hilarious things! Maybe because I'm one of them!
  • I type LOL way too much
  • I get embarrassed easily
  • I day dream way too much and somehow maintain A's.
  • I'm Asian, so think of an 85 as a 50 when it comes to grades...
  • I hate stereotypes even though I kind of contradicted myself up there
  • One of my favorite quotes. From a book of course: "Every person makes a difference. And the things we do--do matter...And now I believe in fate, especially the kind we make ourselves" -Warped
  • I'm rereading this and think it's eerily like my Wattpad account info...
  • I write a little on the side, but I don't think I have the patience to continue writing. Blogging is so much better!

Wake Giveaway

Wake (Watersong, #1)
Goodreads Blurb
Beautiful. Fearless. Dangerous. They're the kind of girls you envy; the kind of girls you want to hate. Strangers in town for the summer, Penn, Thea, and Lexi have caught everyone's attention, including the eye of practical Harper. But it's her sister, Gemma, they've chosen to be part of their group.

Sixteen-year-old Gemma seems to have it all - carefree, pretty, and falling in love with the boy next door. But her greatest passion has always been the water. She craves late night swims under the stars, where she can be alone yet belong to the sea. Lately she's had company. Penn, Thea, and Lexi spend their nights dancing, singing, and partying on the cove--and one night Gemma joins them. When she wakes up groggy on the beach the next morning, she knows something has changed.

Suddenly Gemma is stronger, faster, and more beautiful than ever. As she uncovers the truth about her new mythical powers, Gemma is forced to choose between staying with those she loves or entering a dark world brimming with unimaginable secrets.

Wake was a fantastic waterside read! I thourougly enjoyed it although there were some bad parts. Once again (and I promise this time!) the review will be only be three paragraphs long.

The good: The characters were 3D and I could imagine them as actualy people. Gemma and Harper were like actualy sisters, fighting all the time, but loving each other anyways. The guys were awesome in the story, both dreamy in their own way. My favorite? I'm sorry Harper, but he's mine! I loved the romance and Amanda Hocking twists a new Greek myth to fit her siren story which I loved! The three sirens were definitely evil and I'd hate to ever meet them

The bad: Unfortunately, I felt like the plot of Wake was a bit slow and there wasn't much climax. That's pretty much it! The rest I loved.

Ok, I kept this incredibly short because we all know that you're mainly here for the giveaway! Just fill out the Rafflecopter and hope you win! US only, sorry!

Fun or Not?

Fun or None?

Fun or None? That is the question. This will be a blog hop type thing (I don't feel like calling it a blog hop since that feels too professional--this is purely fun) from May 27-June 2. Basically, since I'm thinking that a lot of other teens will have the same schedule, during the week of exams, me and about (hopefully) 15 other bloggers will post something that will correspond to that day's post. The posts are a secret, so if you're interested, then please e-mail me for more information!

I just came up with the idea because I don't think I can study and review books at the same time and, obviously, final exams are at the time, more important than bloging. I'm sorry! I do love all my followers, but I have parents breathing down my back here! Again, if you're interested, please email me (piscesgirl1688@gmail.com)! Happy Readings!
