It's been too long since I made one of these! YAY! So topic: Reviews.
So, if you've noticed, most of my reviews are 4 stars or up. I'm a pretty generous reader, I guess. Not very picky, and I'll read almost anything! So my ratings tend to be pretty nice. :D And my reasons for giving those stars are honest, you guys. (Yes I had to point that out. Some people thought I was just giving out stars because I got them from the pub or author. :( ) And the reason most books have 5 stars? I don't like writing negative reviews, DNF's, 1 stars etc. Apparently I'm also a pretty good blurb judge and only get books my favorite bloggers say are good or have good summaries. ^_^ And OKAY, MAYBE the covers have something to do with it. Hmph.
But yeah. I only review the books I enjoyed or if the ARC was sent from a publisher or author. They sent the book, they have a right to get an HONEST review from me! :D
Just thought I'd clear that up!
Don't worry. I get it. If you check out my Goodreads page, you will see the same thing. I rarely even give a 3 star review. I can look at just about any book I read and find things that are worth at least 4 stars. And I never forget that these books that I am reading are books that someone put their whole heart into. A book has to be just plain awful for me to give a bad review, and even then I try my hardest to say some good things. Anyway, that is one of the reasons I come here. I know I can trust your reviews, you are positive in them. And that is just plain nice!

It makes ms feel mean :( There have been a few times when I've rated books 4 or 5 stars even though I didn't really enjoy them and that was because I still thought they were goods books. But I AM still honest in my reviews. Even when I don't want to be. =)
ReplyDeleteI don't write negative reviews either. I will give an honest rating on Goodreads, but would rather spend my time reading than badmouthing a book. For all I know, someone else will love the book, and my comments just persuaded them from buying it. I do like to find some joy in a book too nor am I hard to please when it comes to reading.
